Vietnam records 52 new local Covid cases

Northern province of Bac Giang detected 35 community transmission cases in quarantined and areas that have been locked down. All were linked to infected industrial park workers.

The Ministry of Health confirmed 52 new Covid-19 cases in four localities Sunday morning, raising the latest coronavirus wave's tally to 3,837.

Ho Chi Minh City recorded 10 new cases, including eight linked to the cluster at the Revival Ekklesia Mission, a Christian congregation, raising the tally in this cluster to 97. Two other patients had come into close contact with previously confirmed patients.

Northern province of Bac Giang detected 35 community transmission cases in quarantined and areas that have been locked down. All were linked to infected industrial park workers.

The neighboring province of Bac Ninh recorded two cases in two Covid-19 clusters in Thuan Thanh and Que Vo districts.

The new case in Hai Phong, a 53-year-old woman, has made contact with a coronavirus case.

The latest additions raises the total number of confirmed infecteded Covid-19 patients to 2,029 in Bac Giang, 767 in Bac Ninh, 108 in HCMC and three in Hai Phong.

Vietnam has recorded community transmissions in 34 cities and provinces since April 27 as the country experiences its most challenging Covid-19 outbreak yet.
