Coaches that complete a pro training course offered by Vietnam Golf Association will be granted a five-year certificate.

Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) said golf in Vietnam is developing rapidly but is lacking depth, and its pro training program is expected to help professionalize the golf training system in the country.

According to the law, a golf coach or instructor must have a certificate issued by the Department of Physical Training and Sports or VGA.

VGA's training program for coaches consists of two levels. Level one offers mainly professional knowledge and academic skills that lasts for eight days with a tuition fee of VND20 million ($882). The course includes five days of online learning and three at the Long Bien golf course in Hanoi.

The curriculum is supported by the Professional Golf Association of Australia (PGAA). All teaching staff are well-trained young experts from golf-developed countries, combined with experienced PGAA members working in Vietnam.

At the end of the course, participants will do a final exam in front of the jury. Those who pass will receive a five-year certificate. According to the plan for the first batch, online sessions will be held from Nov. 15 to 19, while practical sessions and the final exam begin early December. Level-one students must be over 18 years old and have a handicap of no more than 12.

The level two program is being drafted. To participate in this course, students need to have a level one certificate.
